Learner interstate driver licence holders
If you already hold a Learner Driver’s Licence in another jurisdiction and want to use the licence tenure to sit a driving test in the ACT, you must obtain a licence history from the interstate jurisdiction. From the date you receive this licence history (date issued) you have 7 calendar days to provide this to an Access Canberra Service Centre to book your practical driving assessment with an ACT Government licence examiner. If the assessment is successful, you may then apply for a provisional driving assessment with an ACT government examiner or book Logbook competency method with ACT driving school. If you do not pass, you must go through the process of obtaining an ACT learners license before attempting another Government Assessment or opting for the ACT Log Book method.

If you are unable to present your interstate licence, or your licence has expired by more than a month, you must obtain a licence history from the interstate jurisdiction and provide it to Access Canberra. From the date you receive this licence history (date issued) you have 7 calendar days to provide this to an Access Canberra Service Centre and apply to be issued with an ACT licence.
